Trail Behind The Rincon

Directions to Trailhead:

From Wahweap Marina, boat to buoy number 78 (at the mouth of the Escalante River arm of Lake Powell). Moor your boat at either the west or east side of the butte.

Trail Description:

This trail takes you around the Rincon Butte as you walk through a wash that used to be part of the Colorado River. The wash is sandy and sometimes difficult to walk in, but there are cow trails to follow. Points of interest along the way: you will see old mining equipment, as well as an old mining road (Hole-in-the-Rock Road) leading into the valley from the south. There are also dinosaur tracks to be found, according to the Boater's Guide to Lake Powell (we didn't find them, though).

Return the way you came.
