Directions to Trailhead: In Point Reyes National Seashore (off of CA Highway 1, near Olema), take Limantour Road northwest to the Muddy Hollow Trailhead turnoff. Turn right and drive 0.2 miles to the trailhead parking lot. Trail Description: The Muddy Hollow Trail begins at a Park Service shed and follows along a flat, wide trail for 1.4 miles. Parts of the trail take you through a maze of tall hedges and reeds that contain stinging nettles. We got stung by them and the tingling sensation lasted well into the evening hours! After about 0.75 miles, you will emerge from the tall reeds and enter into an exposed, hilly area that is filled with small ocean lakes. This area is very pretty. The trail ends on Limantour Beach, which is also accessible by car. This beach can be very crowded on nice days. Return the way you came. |
