"Boats, Beaches, Bars and Dirty Bananas"

All expenses paid: that's the best way to go on a Verley adventure.

One of the perks of John's position at ACS (Affiliated Computer Services) is that he is eligible to win a trip to their annual President's Club, if he achieves his metrics during the year.  And in fiscal year 2007-2008, John did just that.

ACS's 2008 President's Club was held on Marco Island, Florida, at the Marco Island Marriott Resort.  John learned that he had earned his trip in August, about three weeks before the event was supposed to take place.  However, due to Hurricane Ike, the trip was postponed last minute - two days before the start of the event, after several recipients had already showed up!  (Fortunately, we weren't among them.)  It was rescheduled for the end of October...the day after the end of the 4-Way competition at the Skydiving Nationals in Eloy, in which John was scheduled to compete.  (I guess it wouldn't be a Verley adventure if it was that easy.)

Another challenge that we had with this trip was what to do with Mary.  When the trip was in September, the plan was that she would stay with Grandma and Grandpa Verley for the four days that we would be gone.  By late October, a lot had happened to impact that arrangement; Bill had been in the hospital with a massive infection, which caused Erika a lot of stress.  After many family "discussions" (in which John and I were not involved), she and Janice made arrangements for Mary's care during that time; she would stay with Janice during the school week, then with Grandma and Grandpa on the weekend.

True, it wasn't easy making this trip work for us, but it did.  Click on the links below to read about our adventure on Marco Island, Florida.
