"Park & Ride"

It was time once again to plan our next Verley vacation. Having taken a two-week vacation last December for the 300-Way and Cancun, John and I decided that it would be fun to take another two weeks...but where to go?

Originally, we planned to take the two-weeks in October, so that John could go to the Skydiving Nationals in Lake Wales, FL. Afterwards, we would spend some time in Orlando, visiting Disney World and the Skyventure Tunnel. However, John's skydiving team had other plans - they didn't want to go to Nationals! Rather than go to Nationals alone, we decided instead to plan a Road Trip of Monumental Proportions: an 11-day, 2100-mile journey through 4 states, to visit 13 National Parks and Monuments and one Tribal Park, and to ride the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad! We moved the trip to late September, in order to have the perfect weather...and to see the leaves changing colors in time for fall! There would be plenty of hiking and 4WD roads, too...in other words, a great Verley Adventure!
