"Dinner in Denver"

The next morning, we were up early again, to take John to work.  Since we didn't have any plans until later, Mary and I returned to the hotel and watched TV all morning, until about 10:00.  Then, we got moving...

Since I was going to miss my weekly Weight Watchers weigh-in on Thursday, I had decided to find a meeting in Greeley.  Even if I couldn't stay for the meeting, I could at least weigh and go.  I was in luck, too, because I found a Tuesday morning meeting that started at 10:30, and it was in downtown Greeley, not far from the North Colorado Medical Center.  That would work perfectly, because Mary and I were meeting John for lunch at 11:00.

We arrived too early for the Weight Watchers meeting, only to find that the center wasn't yet open for business.  In fact, we were twenty minutes too early.  Now, we could have waited outside of the door for twenty minutes, but we would have been bored out of our skulls.  Instead, we went outside to take a walk...and found a playground!  What luck!  That was a great way to kill twenty minutes.

We returned to the Weight Watchers center twenty minutes later, just as it was open for the day, and I weighed in.  Then, Mary and I drove to the North Colorado Medical Center to meet John for lunch.

Before we could go to lunch, John took us into his office to introduce to his staff.  We met Jennifer, the supervisor who reports to John, and the small crew that worked for her in that tiny office.  When we arrived, they were all working on running Payroll but were having problems; we waited for John to get to a stopping point before we could go to lunch.

We followed John through the hospital, to the cafeteria, where we had a very good lunch.  (Hospital food has come a long way.)  After lunch, John had to returned to work right away to deal with the issues that they were having, so he walked us back to the entrance then said good-bye to us.  He was expecting it to be a late night...

We returned to the hotel and spent most of the afternoon in the pool, where Mary practiced swimming.  Then, around 3:30, we went back to our room so that we could get dressed for dinner.

Since we weren't far from Denver, we had made arrangements to have dinner with my cousin Liz, who lived in a the suburb of Northglen.  To get there, we drove west on US 34, towards Loveland, then merged onto I-25 and headed south to Northglen.

Mary and cousin Liz.We met Liz and her boyfriend at their townhouse and got the grand tour of the place.  After that, we went out to dinner.  Liz took us to her favorite Mexican food place, which was about as authentic as you can get in Colorado.  (It was definitely much better than the stuff we had in South Carolina!)

After a nice visit with Liz, Mary and I drove back to Greeley, just in time to pick John up from work.  He had finally worked through his payroll issues and was ready to leave.

And so, we returned to the hotel to turn in for the night.  Another busy day awaited us in the morning...
