From the visitor center, go west on the main road to Montezuma Pass (approx 5 miles). Road becomes narrow and twisty but is easily passable in a sedan. Trail begins at south end of parking lot.
From the trailhead, the trail climbs south for 0.1 miles to a junction with Joe's Canyon trail. Take Joe's Canyon Trail as is travels east for 0.6 mile to the junction with the Yaqui Ridge Trail. From the junction, the trail descends moderately to steeply for the next 1.1 miles. The trail ends at a border monument along the Mexican border.
When we did this hike in early 1999, we saw several javelinas.
Return the way you came.
