From parking area, follow trail (real flat) south and then west to Red Mountain. Red Mountain is the remains of a volcanic cauldron. The trail enters a goes to the inside of a sandy wash and goes to a 6 foot stone dam. Climb up the dam (there was a ladder there in February of 1999) or climb the black cinder hill to get into the volcano. Once inside there are dozens of areas to explore and climb around. A trip that should not be missed. Return the way you came.
