Kinder Crossing

Directions to Trailhead:

From the junction of SR 87 and FH 3 (Clint's Well) drive northeast for 10 miles on SR 87 until the first road after the Blue Ridge Ranger Station. Turn right (south) and follow FR 95 for 4.2 miles. Turn left at the signed turnoff for Kinder Crossing Trail. Drive .75 miles on this high clearance road. The last tenth of a mile is quite rough; you may wish to park at the berm and walk the last part.

Trail Description:

For the first third of a mile, the trail descends gently, giving occasional glimpses of the canyon you are entering. The foliage is Pine, Spruce and Oak. The next half mile the trail becomes steeper as it switchbacks down to East Clear Creek. The total descent is about 500 feet. This is a beautiful area with many swimming holes and sandy beaches.

The actual trail continues on and climbs out the other side. It ends at FR 137. However, the bottom of this canyon was too wonderful not to explore. We explored downstream a ways and played in the water.
