Haunted Canyon Trail

Trailhead: Tony's Cabin

Length: 7 miles roundtrip

Difficulty: Moderate

Wilderness Area: Superstition Wilderness

Journal: "Jumping into the New Year"

Cabin in Haunted Canyon

Directions to Trailhead:

From Globe go west on US 60 to Pinto Valley Mine Road. Go through the mine (follow the public access roads) to FR 287A (high clearance). Go 3 miles on 287A to Tony Cabin Trailhead.

Trail Description:

Trail begins in a forested area near a corral. Trail climbs gently and crosses a wash. Trail then ascends to a pass. From here the trail drops down to a junction near a large tank. Many birds congregate here. From the tank, the trail continues through a very overgrown section until it descends into Haunted Canyon. From the junction with the Bull Basin Trail go west to the creek. Tony Cabin is about a 1/4 mile south of the creek in a meadow. Very scenic.

From the creek either continue along the creek until you reach Road 287 and loop back, or return the way you came.
