Directions to Trailhead: From Payson, go north on AZ 87 for approximately 32 miles to mile marker 285. Turn left on FR 142 and follow it .3 miles to a small parking area at a corner. This trailhead is accessible by car. Trail Description: From the trailhead, follow an old road for .3 miles to Clover Creek. When you get to the old bridge (washed out) turn left (west) and follow the creek to the wilderness boundary (.1 miles). From here, follow the game trail along the creek. The trail crosses the creek often. As there is no maintained trail, just stay on one side or the other of the creek. The game trail ends after about 2.5 miles. We were able to bushwhack 4 miles in although it was extremely slow going. Return the way you came. |
