Olympus Camedia C-740 Ultra Zoom: I cannot say enough good things about this camera - I love it! This 3.2 megapixel camera has a 10x Optical Zoom AND a 3x Digital Zoom - a total of 30x. It is wonderful for taking pictures of that deer in the distance, or of ancient Indian ruins at National Monuments. We have also used this camera for taking portraits - we have taken better pictures ourselves than we have ever gotten at professional photo studios. There are a number of different settings on the camera, to allow you to take action shots, portraits, scenery shots, and even panoramic views. It runs on a special Lithium battery that will last a couple of months, depending on how many pictures you are taking. The batteries are expensive ($18 at Target) - that is the only downside.
