Susan G Komen 3-Day For the Cure |
|
In 2006, Heather Verley walked in her first Breast Cancer 3-Day event. She raised $3,360 for the 3-Day charity. In 2007, Heather worked on the crew of the Breast Cancer 3-Day. She worked at Pit Stop #5 and cheered on the weary walkers at the end of their long day. She raised $330. In 2008, Heather walked in her second Breast Cancer 3-Day. She raised $2,200. John registered to walk in the 3-Day but was unable to commit to the event. However, he raised $200 in donations. In 2009, Heather worked for the second time on the crew of the Breast Cancer 3-Day. She raised an amazing $500...not bad, considering that fundraising is optional for crew! In 2010, Heather walked her third Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure and raised just over $3,000 And in 2011, Heather is going to work the crew again...as Crew Captain of Pit Stop 3!

Chase - for more than $2,000 in matching gifts! Our involvement with the 3-Day is dedicated: *In memory of Laverne McWilliams (November 1934-November 1980), Heather's aunt, who passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. *In memory of Martine Sullivan, a lovely woman Heather knew, who lost her 11-year battle with breast cancer in January 2008. *In honor of Norma, who was diagnosed in August 2008. She is Debbie's mother...and like a second "mom" to Heather and all of her girlfriends. *In honor of Norlene, whom Heather met at Weight Watchers. Norlene is a one-year survivor and participates every year in Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure! *In honor of Jo-Ann, Heather's co-worker, who was diagnosed in August 2009. She is now cancer-free and a survivor! And in honor of all of the amazing and beautiful women and men whose lives have been forever changed by this disease! We will continue the fight to find a cure...60 miles at a time! Return to Arizona Hiking Trails. |
